All natural persons who have a user on the MINKA citizen science platform (www.minka-sdg.org) and who have participated in the BioMARató 2024 by uploading a minimum of 10 different observations of marine and coastal biodiversity and have included in the following project within MINKA.
These observations must be made between May 6 and October 15, 2024 on the coast of Catalonia, in the provinces of Barcelona, ​​Tarragona and Girona.
The purpose of these rules is to establish the essential terms and conditions for the development and participation of this competition.
The participants, by the mere fact of participating in this contest, unconditionally and fully accept the rules, as well as the criteria of the organizers for the resolution of any issue arising from the interpretation and execution of these rules.

The communication of the competition will be carried out through the official channels of Facebook, Instagram, newsletter and the web pages of the organizers.
Only natural persons with users within the MINKA citizen science platform can choose to win some of the prizes in this competition.

RESTRICTIONS:

The following are excluded from this competition and will not be eligible for prizes:

Those natural persons who upload their observations to MINKA on the account of an entity, company or other type of institution and not an individual account.

Natural persons employed or linked at work with any of the organizing or collaborating institutions of the BioMARató 2024.

The participation period is from May 6, 2024 at 12:01 a.m. to October 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m., Spanish Peninsular Time. Once the BioMARató has ended, observations made within the dates of the BioMARató can be uploaded, during the 15 days following its end.

Five categories of participation are established:

Province of Barcelona: participants contributing more observations who have obtained the research degree and who are located in the province of Barcelona

Girona province: participants providing more observations who have obtained the research degree and who are located in the province of Girona

Tarragona province: participants providing more observations who have obtained the research degree and who are located in the province of Tarragona

Global: participants contributing more observations who have obtained the research degree and who are located anywhere on the coast of Catalonia

Random prizes at the end of the season: all participants of the BioMARató 2024, except those who have already obtained a prize in the other classifications.

Individuals who wish to participate must upload a minimum of 10 observations of marine or coastal species made on the coast of Catalonia. These observations must be from different organizations and must be made between May 6 and October 15, 2024. Likewise, these observations must be uploaded by the participant to the MINKA citizen science platform and that these observations have achieved the research degree. If you upload multiple observations of the same specimen individually instead of unifying the photos in a single observation, these may be marked as random and not counted in this contest.

The jury will be made up of a representative from each of the collaborating entities of BioMARató 2024, with 4 members in total.

For the selection of the winners, the jury will take into account:

Barcelona category: total number of observations in the province of Barcelona that have achieved the research degree within the MINKA citizen science platform.

Girona category: total number of observations in the province of Girona that have reached the research level within the MINKA citizen science platform

Tarragona category: total number of observations of different species in the province of Tarragona and which have achieved the research degree within the MINKA citizen science platform.

Global Category: total number of observations on the coast of Catalonia that have reached the level of research within the MINKA citizen science platform.

The authenticity of the observations and the absence of plagiarism or usurpation of these observations to another user is assumed. Any breach of these requirements will be sufficient reason for the exclusion of comments from the competition and the MINKA platform and a warning to the participant.

The decision will be final, and the mere fact of participating in the contest implies full acceptance and compliance with it.

The organizers will publish the names of the winners on the BioMARató website (www.biomarato.com) and will contact the winners through the MINKA citizen science platform.

The organizers will announce the winners at the end of October or the beginning of November and the award ceremony will take place at the award ceremony organized by the organizing bodies of the BioMARató. If the winners could not attend the collection of prizes during the delivery ceremony on that day, they will have to contact the organizers to schedule a new delivery date, paying the shipping costs if they were borne by the award winner

The organizers will also select reserves for all categories, especially for random prizes, in case the winners cannot be contacted or if they breach any term of these rules, whose names may be published on the website on 6 November 2024 and you will be notified of your winning status via message within the MINKA Citizen Science Platform.

The winners will have a period of 5 working days, from the notification of their award status, to contact the organizers, and express their acceptance of the prize obtained, at which time they will be informed of the procedure to formalize the award.

It will be essential for the acceptance of the prize that the winners send a communication as they accept the prize. If the acceptance period has passed without the recipient having contacted the organizers, it will be understood that they renounce the prize without any compensation for this resignation.

In the event that one of the winners does not proceed to accept the prize in accordance with the established procedure, or if it is detected that he has breached any of the participation requirements set out in these rules, the organizers will proceed to inform the alternate that he has been selected as the new winner of the contest. Once the new winner is published, the procedure will be in accordance with that established for the first winner.

In the event that, having resorted to substitutes, none of the selected has accepted the prize or they are invalid under the criteria of these rules, the competition is considered deserted on November 30, 2024.

Likewise, if any of the winners or, if applicable, the substitutes could not be located/contacted, the contest will be held by default on November 30, 2024.

In the case of the categories of the provinces of Barcelona, ​​Tarragona and Girona, the same participant cannot win more than one prize in one of these categories. In the event that a participant is the winner in two different categories within the Barcelona, ​​Girona and Tarragona categories, the members of the jury will decide in which single category the winner is, always choosing the one with the best position for the prize winner.

A random prize will be drawn from among all contest participants who meet the criteria described herein. These random prizes will be drawn once a week, specifically they will be drawn on Monday of each week from July 8 to September 27, 2024.

The organizers will contact the winner of the monthly random prize through the MINKA platform and the winners will be published on the BioMARató website on the same day of the draw. The winners will have a period of 5 working days, from the notification of their award status, to get in touch with the organizers, and express their acceptance of the prize obtained, at which time you will be informed of the procedure to formalize the award

It will be essential for the acceptance of the prize that the winners send a communication as they accept the prize. If the acceptance period has passed without the recipient having contacted the organizers, it will be understood that they renounce the prize without any compensation for this resignation.

Each participant can win a maximum of 1 prize: corresponding to the Random permit category, a prize in the provincial categories (Barcelona, ​​Girona and Tarragona) or a prize in the Global category. The winners in each category will be published on the BioMARató website, as well as in other materials explaining the results of the BioMARató project, such as infographics, articles, etc.

The acceptance of any of the prizes of this competition implies the assignment, with an exclusive and transferable character, without territorial or temporal limitation and free of charge, to the organizers of all rights of use, distribution, exploitation, export, diffusion, publication or by any other means and through any support that the organizers consider appropriate for the observations linked to obtaining the prize.

This information may be used both in the scope of this competition and in any other promotion in which it is considered appropriate to refer to this competition, for advertising or promotional purposes, including its publication on the websites and social networks of the organizers and in any media, without the right to any financial consideration.

The organizers are exonerated from all responsibility in the event of a malfunction of the electronic communication networks that prevent the normal development of the draw for reasons outside the company and especially for external acts of bad faith. Nor will the organizing company be responsible for transmission problems or loss of data not attributable to it.

The organizers reserve the right to justifiably eliminate any participant who defrauds, alters or disables the proper functioning and normal and regulatory course of the present, as well as the resolution of any issue arising from the present activity.

The organizers reserve the right to modify the conditions of this draw prior to appropriate authorizations or corresponding administrative communications.

The organizers reserve the right to make any changes, suspend or extend this promotion whenever there is a cause that justifies it, including non-compliance with the levels of participation foreseen when preparing the BioMARató promotion campaign 2024, without this implying a duty of compensation of any kind.
